The neighborhood known as Trinidad was once home to Trinidad Farm, the ante bellum estate of notable landowner and philanthropist William Wilson Corcoran. It maintains its traditional boundaries from the early 19th century, comprising Florida Avenue to the south, Bladensburg Road to the east, Gallaudet University to the west, and Mount Olivet Cemetery to the north, which was created in 1858 and is maintained by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington. Trinidad was established in 1888, and the first houses appeared in its southernmost section. Building continued vigorously through the 1920s, and most of the northern part of the neighborhood had reached the end of its building boom in the 1940s. Most of the residential architecture consists primarily of two-story rowhouses, which are restrained, elegant, and devoid of superfluous details. Not all of Trinidad was developed according to the original plan, and a portion of it became what is now the National Arboretum. The Montello Condominium offers nine units in a building that continues the traditions of the neighborhood, evidenced by its restrained elegance and fine proportions. The team that designed and developed this handsome building created high-quality interior spaces that are spacious and refined. This two-bedroom, two and a half-bathroom unit offers approximately 1,350 square feet of living space on two levels, giving it the sensibility of a single-family house. The current owner added a number of luxurious finishes, resulting in a space that is unlike any other in the neighborhood. An open floor plan, cerused oak floors, white marble counters, large expanses of glass, and top-quality fixtures and finishes all harmonize in a modern yet classic look. Additionally, the building offers a roof terrace that provides a panoramic view of the city. Off-street parking is available for rent on-site. The neighborhood is close to the NoMa-Gallaudet and Union Station Metro Stations as well as Florida, Rhode Island, and New York Avenues. Trinidad offers superb options for entertainment and nightlife, with easy access to Union Market and the H Street Corridor which includes various shops, restaurants, cafes, and artisanal breweries.
