The Smith home was built in 1945 for the late George L and Sally Smith. George L Smith served in the GA Legislature for 19 years with 15 of those years serving as the very powerful Speaker of the House of Representatives. Mr. Smith was regarded as one of the most powerful men in Georgia politics in the 1960's and 1970's. Designed by local architect Jimmy Morgan.
