Outdoor space? Incomparable and Unique!
If an 800 square foot private patio is your thing, look no further. Not only is it planted, connected to wifi and divided into several cozy conversation areas, it is the most creative and welcoming (and largest) outdoor space now available in the area. And the meticulously renovated 1500 sf of interior space to which it is connected makes for a serene, even Zen, experience. An oasis in New York City.
As you enter, the first thing you notice is a wash of natural light from the wall of glass doors between the interior and outdoor space. The huge closet in the front hall has built-in storage; flooring throughout is white oak plank. The open kitchen features a Wolf range, Miele dishwasher, a farmhouse sink, a Dacor fridge with a French door freezer, and Carrara countertops with Ochre pebble pendants above the main work island. There is room in the dining area for a large table, now with a gorgeous Ochre arctic pear chandelier above, and further to the right the living room area, which fits an overlarge couch, chairs and coffee tables. The bar/laundry room has Chef wine and beverage fridges, Miele washer/dryer, and a chandelier by Signature Chandelier lights of Scandinavia - this could easily become an office/extra place to sleep. The master has a full ensuite bath with Rohl fixtures, and a killer walk-in closet/dressing area and also gets light from the patio. The bedroom lighting is Pebble pendant by British design group Original BTC. The second bedroom is currently configured as an office/sitting room, and the adjacent bath has all Carrara surfaces, which you see throughout the apartment.
Then there's the patio. Facing west, you enter outside through NanaWall custom doors which can be folded open (there are pocket screen doors that can be closed to allow fresh air into the apartment) and custom bluestone sills leading to the great and well-manicured outdoors - and the whole space is wired for any devices you bring along. There is a trellis above the patio and not an inch where you can't lounge in either sun or shade either for work, watching TV (there is a hookup), conversation with friends or simply taking a nap. There is very little, if anything, comparable to this downtown and in this price range. The apartment has central AC and is in a quiet corner of the building. You have to see it to believe it.
2 Charlton is a full service co-op with a garage accessible from the building elevator. They have a great staff, a bike room and a location in a Village-y street lined with historic townhouses just blocks from the action of Soho or the West Village but away from the crowds. Subways are available a block away in two directions (the 1 and the C) and access to the Holland Tunnel is easy. There are also bike/walking paths close by on the river and, of course, all the restaurants and retail in both SoHo and the Village (and Tribeca) very close by and a Trader Joe's on Spring if you prefer cooking at home. The neighborhood is evolving with the advent of Google and ESPN/Disney, and along with that new services are arriving or planned. This is the moment for an incomparable apartment that serves as an escape from (but with access to) all the excitement of New York City.
