When first viewing this magical parcel that's less than 4 miles to hwy 197, one may only see the tip of the iceberg. To really dig in, you will have at least a few scratches and a few stories to tell from a couple hours of exploration. But even then you will have only seen portions. That's because this properly is THICK with vegetation. Living walls of manzanita , huckleberries, rhodies, scrub oak, etc. As if mother nature is trying to keep all the goods for herself. The tip of the iceberg is located in the SW corner where an overgrown driveway accesses the lot. For a coastal climate this area of the property really gives off some desert vibes. Sparse, scrubby, but very easy to open up, very flat, and still studded with some beautiful trees. Property has excellent southern exposure. Yet when you try to go elsewhere to explore the majority of the lot you are met by dense wilderness. In some areas, the understory is as thick as it comes. However there are ways to navigate through. As one trudges through, the forest floor becomes richer topsoil, the understory opens up, and a larger abundance of upper canopy. Make your way down towards the famous Myrtle creek and then once again get rejected by an insanely thick layer of Salmonberry, fallen trees, and other vegetation on the western bank of the creek. The faint of heart would have not even made it this far, but if you have, don't turn back because the creek is simply awe inspiring. Sit by the creek and allow yourself to be reborn. After a soothing break, you will be reassured by continued simple navigation on the eastern side of the creek. It's difficult to determine where the border of the property is on that side yet it buffers 6 rivers national forest and has a feeling that no one has seen that area in over a century. Coarse Redwoods inhabit this lush neck of the woods. A truly special area to enjoy. Set up a hammock and take it all in or turn around and prepare yourself to navigate back out. On the way back out you may find old overgrown skid roads and trails. At one time this property had a network of roads. You can see this by using google earth historic map feature. If you are looking to see what it feels like to be a true pioneer this property will invoke your primal spirit. Acreage in SW corner can be opened up for development in a matter of days, but to truly indulge in the variety of potential on this property; it may take years.
